  • Great post, and I have done several of these and you have given me a few more to add to my bucket list. One I am not sure I agree with is Croag Patrick, while the views are amazing , the crowds and the shale on the way down is really not fun. I better one day hike in Ireland would be the whole length of the cliffs of Moher.

  • Ryan Carrell

I have done many of these treks and I must say that this is a pretty accurate list of some of the most amazing treks on Planet Earth.

  • A great post, includes several amazing hikes.
As for baltoro k2 base camp trek,
We rougly trek 90 kilometers in 12 – 14 days (5-7 hrs daily). there are just 2 main routes.
Skardu jeep > Askole > Concodia > K2 & Hushe village > Jeep to Skardu.
I would call it one of the best treks on the planet earth.

  • Dan Allerbrant

Only one trek in Sweden and you forgot Norway!!!!

  • Great post, thanks for sharing! You should visit Hooker Valley Track in New Zealand! Meeting the great “chief” (Aoraki) was something extraordinary that I will never forget!

    • Ryan Hare

I hiked all of these, overrated trails, too crowded and not hard. waste of money

  • Annie Cornish

I’ve done 4. But I ‘m not done yet!! Thanks for sharing 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🧡

  • Have done several of these and I’m inspired to try some of the others I hadn’t heard of, thanks for the recommendations!

One I have done which ranks pretty close to the top is hiking the Cirques on Reunion Island. Absolutely beautiful, tough hikes (including the highest peak in the Indian Ocean), cool places to stay and eat, and an active volcano across the island.

  • This is a seriously good list. I’m working on my bucket list for the next 5 years. Your post gave me some great ideas.
    Cheers

  • lawrence then

try to think about some treks in China especially in xinjiang. there are amazing and gorgeous.

    • What a great list! This is seriously better than some similar articles I’ve seen in big travel publications like Nat Geo. I’m always excited to learn about new places as well as reacquaint with ones I know about, and amazed at how many great places I’ve not heard of. I’ve been fortunate to do a number of these in full or part, and yet I sometimes feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. Clearly, I can’t die for at least another 300 years until I’ve done it all!

    • Also in China, wonderful hike Wudangshan mountain

  • Just recently became aware of the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. Am considering giving it a try in a couple of years when I retire.

  • Olivia M. Wade

I hiked the narrows on a day with the lowest chance of flash floods….please monitor the weather. I started my hike around 3 pm….after the extreme heat of the day and the crowds had started to thin out. I would recommend renting the water hiking boots at the visitor center area if you do not already have them. I do not hike, but I did this hike and I loved it, because it is one of the best hikes in the US. You can make the hike as long or as short as you and you do not need to be an experienced hiker to do this trail. The hike is mostly done in water which provides a refreshing feeling to the experience and the views of incredible.

  • Gintarė

Amazing article for hikers! Thank you! :)
