Bandung is the capital of Indonesia’s West Java Province and is the 3rd largest city in Indonesia. It’s a city known for beauty, shopping, and nature – as well as one of the world’s largest indoor theme parks. Here are 5 things to do in Bandung.

Eat at the Floating Market Lambang

If you want a taste of both local culture and cuisine, you can usual find it at a local market and the Floating Market Lambang is no exception. Head here for an afternoon or evening of wandering and immersing yourself in the delicious flavors of the Java province. Spend an Afternoon at Patenggang Lake

Patenggang Lake is a popular destinations among tourists and Indonesians alike. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon relaxing. As it is surrounded by tea plantations with few amenities, nature lovers will probably want to stay here all day while others may only want to spend two or three hours here. Either way, it’s worth visiting, especially if you take a boat onto the lake. It’s a hot spot for locals on Sundays so visit during the week for a more private view.

Get an Aerial View from The Grand Mosque of Bandung

The Grand Mosque of Bandung is one of the most important buildings in the city, originally built in 1812. It serves as a mosque but also a tourist attraction. By heading to the top of the one of the towers, you get an aerial view of Bandung and, on clear days, surrounding areas as well. A good starting place for any sightseeing of Bandung. Visit Kawah Putih

Another of Bandung’s natural attractions, Kawah Putih is an eerily beautiful crater lake that helps make up Mount Patuha. It’s considered a relatively stable volcanic system as there’s been no activity since 1600. However, the high altitude means that it is much cooler than surrounding areas so bring a jacket with your camera. Kawah Putih is considered highly acidic, so the colors of the lake and everything is touches change depending on the pH level of the water. Each time you visit, it can be like visiting a different lake and the surrounding landscape in contrast makes beautiful photos.

Have fun at Trans Studio

With 2 floors and 20 rides, Trans Studio is one of the largest indoor theme parks in the world and there’s fun for everyone there. Trans Studio is split into 3 sections – Studio Central is inspired by Hollywood, Lost City where you can “rescue” the Trans Studio TV crew, and Magic Corner where all of the fun starts. There are over 20 rides and multiple shows. While the park is aimed at families, there are plenty of rides that make it an appropriate place for everyone to spend their day.

Whether you’re looking for an escape to nature or want to explore the culture and architecture of a city, there’s something in Bandung for you. A great place to stay in Bandung is the Mercure Bandung Setiabudi Hotel. It is a great luxury hotel for a low price. But the best part is the beautiful pool from where you can watch the stars at night.
